From the Waters of Lake Mead

We often receive phones calls from concerned clients saying "I heard that Lake Mead will be dry by 2013!" While that has been, and probably will continue to be, a very popular rumor, the truth is that as of January 30, 2012, the drought is officially over! Lake Mead's water level is the highest it's been in 6 years!

New for 2012, the Callville Bay Marina is the only marina on Lake Mead that is offering houseboat rentals. The check in process is a little different now and is quite efficient. First you stop off at the Marina Store at the top of the parking lot. The friendly staff will then check you in, have you sign all of your paperwork and spend some time helping you map out some areas to visit. Spend a little time walking the aisles for any last minute items you might have forgotten. The next step is to load your houseboat. It's quite a long walk down the houseboat dock, but the provided wheelbarrows help lighten the load. Don't forget the ice! These wheelbarrows make carrying the 20 lb bags much easier! Once your cars are unloaded and you are itching to go, a quick stop at the check in station will put you in line for your orientation. You will want to have at least 2 or 3 people attend the orientation as there is a lot to learn about how to operate the houseboat. Watching the videos in your confirmation email will help shorten your orientation time!

With the temperatures already hovering around 90 degrees and water temperatures currently in the high 70s, late Spring is the perfect time to experience the lake at its new levels! Summertime is always a popular time to go when the kids are out of school and the sun is high in the sky! Of course my favorite time to go is September when the temperatures have dropped a little but the water is still a warm 83 degrees.

This past September, I was lucky enough to spend 4 days on Lake Mead. With the newly updated features on the 70'Titanium Mead Houseboat my friends and I had an even better trip than we had a couple of years ago. The furnishings were all brand new and a large flat screen tv hooked up to a high quality sound system complete with iPod jack made our late nights even more fun! Each morning we were treated by more than a dozen long horn sheep sauntering just a few hundred yards from our houseboat. As usual the water was crystal clear, making wakeboarding from the 2011 Ebbtide ski boat effortless.

With our entire fleet of houseboats receiving a face lift this past year, any model that you choose is sure to tickle your fancy. And don't forget about our newest luxury houseboat, the 75'Pegasus Houseboat! Although this houseboat is mostly sold out for the summer, we've got lots of spring and fall dates available!

As always, call our reservation staff at 888-454-8825 or Contact Us Online to book your dream Lake Mead houseboat vacation today!
