Hiking at Lake New Melones
At the lake:
- Angel’s Creek trail - 2.5 mile loop with views of the lake - part of the Glory Hole Recreation Area.
- Table Mountain Trail - 2 mile trail—it climbs to the top of a massive lava flow over 9 million years old—the trailhead is at the parking are in front of the first gate at the end of Shell Road, in the Table Mountain area.
- Natural Bridges Trail - 1.5 mile roundtrip hike—a some-what steep downhill hike in which at one point a creek flows through a marble cave—the trailhead is from Parrott’s Ferry Road in the Natural Bridges area.
In the area:
- Spicer Dam Trail - A 5 mile hike into Wheat’s meadow from Highland Creek—trailhead is found below the Spicer Reservoir dam, by traveling 8 miles southwest on Spicer Reservoir Road, out of Hathaway Pines, CA
- Andresen Mine Trail - 4.5 miles, Tuolumne River, Stanislaus National Forest—209-962-7821
