Houseboating season is May 1 - Mid October. Summer (between Memorial Day and Labor Day) is the most popular and is the busiest season. View a month-by-month list of temperatures here: Average Temperatures

The maximum capacity on any houseboat is what the houseboat sleeps, no exceptions. This is a regulation set by the Coast Guard.

Unfortunately, pets are not allowed on these houseboats.

No experience is required. The marina staff will go over operations and regulations in an orientation upon your arrival.

  • Persons born after Jan. 1, 1984 must have a Missouri boater’s license (or equivalent from another state) in order to operate the houseboat. (Can be obtained by going to www.boat-ed.com)

To rent a houseboat from the Port of Kimberling Marina you must be 25 years of age

The cost of a houseboat vacation is based on a few variables: what time of year you plan to visit, what size of houseboat, how long of a trip, etc.

Generally, people reserve about 6-9 months in advance. But it's always a good idea to make a reservation as soon as you're ready, especially if you have specific dates in mind or if you're planning a trip over a holiday weekend or on a special promotion.

Give us a call at 888-454-8825. Our reservation agents are happy to check availability or confirm your vacation.

Alternatively, you may Contact Us Online with your availability request, and one of our agents will get back to you with the information you need.

Booking Policy

  • A $500.00 security deposit, due upon booking, confirms your houseboat reservation. Upon receipt of your deposit, a rental confirmation will be mailed to you. The confirmation needs to be signed and is due back in our office along with the total amount of the rental fee 60 days prior to departure. If reservation is made less than 60 days prior to departure, the full amount of rental fee plus the security deposit is due at time reservation is made.
  • If full rental payment is not received at least 60 days before departure date, your reservation will be considered cancelled and your entire deposit will be forfeited.
  •  If the houseboat is returned in satisfactory condition, the security deposit will be returned within 10 days of the trips end.
  • Deposits and rental payments can be made by major credit cards, cash, check, or certified check.

Cancellation Policy

  • If you must cancel, notify us at least 60 days before your departure date. Your deposit will be refunded less a $150 cancellation fee.
  • All cancellations made in less than 60 days of rental period will lose the total deposit and rental fees.
  • All rescheduling must be made prior to 45 days of rental period. Customers may reschedule in the same calendar year only.

Basics such as cookware and serve-ware (pots, plans, plates, glasses, utensils, etc.) come equipped on the houseboat. You are responsible for bringing all of your food, beverages, and spices down to salt and pepper.

Fuel is not included in the houseboat rental. Like a rental car, you'll pick up the houseboat full and you'll be responsible for the final refueling at the end of your trip to pay for what you've used.

Typically, we recommend that you budget about $100 per day for fuel. Of course, it may be more or less based on how much you drive the houseboat each day and how much you run the generator.

Blankets, sheets, pillows (2 per bed), bath towels, washcloths and kitchen towels are provided on each houseboat.

Rental periods are as follows:

  • 3 nights –  from Friday afternoon – Monday morning  or Monday afternoon -Thursday morning
  • 4 nights –  from Monday afternoon – Friday morning or Thursday afternoon-Monday morning
  • 7 nights –  from  Friday afternoon- Friday morning, Thursday afternoon to Thursday morning

Boarding time is between 2:00 and 5:00 PM on the first day of your rental period.  The houseboat needs to be returned full of gas, pumped out, and returned to slip before 10:00 AM on the last day of your rental period.

Seasickness is very uncommon on fresh water because the lake is mostly calm and houseboats are wider and more stable than smaller boats. However, if you get sick easily we recommend that you take necessary precautions.
