In case you haven't heard the good news, availability has been opened up at almost all of our locations for 2016! As cliche as "better to be safe than sorry" can sound, these wise words ring true for vacation planning procrastinators nationwide come springtime. So is it really so important to book this early? Yes. Yes it is. Here's the scoop: if you plan your trip before the end of this year, chances are you'll be locked in at the 2015 rate before next year's pricing is announced. Not knowing what's in store for prices next year, it's more likely they'll go up rather than down (just like everything else.) Give yourself peace of mind by locking in your vacation NOW.

Be sure to arrange your vacation ASAP if you're looking at a lake getaway over these dates:

• Memorial Day weekend (May 28 - 31st)
• July 4th week
• Labor Day weekend (September 2 - 5th)

Holidays tend to sell out the fastest, but so do lake wide events:

• Poker Run weekend (September 9 - 12th) at Lake Cumberland tends to book up a year in advance! Jamestown marina houseboats are already sold out next year! But there's still time to get in at Beaver Creek or Burnside marinas. If you have your heart set on visiting the Jamestown area, call us to get your name on a waitlist.

• Mother's Day weekend and Memorial Day weekend are the first to fill up on Shasta Lake, California. Spring Breakers flock to the lake for fun and sun, so don't miss out! Keep in mind, however, there are age requirements and maximum capacity rules for each houseboat rental. Also, some additional security deposits may be in place or increased for all weekends in May.

• In addition to 4 day weekend holidays and the first week of July, Father's Day weekend fills up quickly at Lake Lanier; take dad out for a trip he'll never forget.

• Virtually every weekend is a holiday at the Florida Keys. All the major holidays, as well as the local holidays such as: Easter/Spring Break (mid-late April), Mini Lobster and Lobster (end of July through mid-August), and of course Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. The rates escalate over these time frames, so give yourself a little discount by avoiding those weeks.
