In September of 2012, I was lucky enough to take part in a Lake Powell houseboating adventure with my husband and our closest friends. When packing, I wasn't certain if I was going to bring along my trusty ol' film camera that I tow along wherever I go. It's such a monster of a thing, and what if I accidentally dropped it in the lake? I could just post some picutres on instagram instead and call it a day. The doubt didn't last for long as I remembered I would be surrounded by one of the most uniquely beautiful landscapes on earth...I couldn't just leave it up to my iphone! A gem like Lake Powell deserves to be captured in as many mediums as possible.

And boy was I glad I didn't leave the lil' guy at home. Sure I nearly dropped my camera in the lake (two inches from the water!) and almost gave myself a heart attack - but it was completely worth it. Looking at these photos now, I feel as though I'm transported back to these exact moments. I can almost hear the sound of the water gently lapping against the sides of the houseboat. I can almost feel the cool breeze lightly brushing across my face. And just faintly, I can almost hear the sounds of the boys jumping off the top of the houseboat...screaming like little girls.
